Bill “Bear” Smith
Lead Guitar
Bear had a friend growing up who played guitar, and got him interested. He started taking lessons at age
11 from an older neighbor and eventually other school friends he discovered played as well. They got
together and formed their first band in 6 th grade, playing later Beatles, Who, and making their first
attempts at rock/”prog rock” songs by Jethro Tull and Rush.
Bear continued to practice religiously, mainly learning as much as he could on his own. He would be in
bands and playing lead guitar over the next 50 years, starting out playing in bands for grade school/high
school “mixers” in the mid-1970’s and ending up playing the biggest rock/dance clubs in the
Cleveland/Akron area and beyond throughout the 1980’s with Orion, Silhouette, and then again starting
in 2000 playing weddings, corporate events and local bars for the next 13 years with Oasis, writing and
recording his own material during the 1990’s.
Bear was a bit of a late-comer to the Eagles party. But, when he heard one of his favorite guitarists, Joe
Walsh joined the band, he became an instant fan, with “New Kid In Town” and “Victim of Love”
becoming two of his favorites. So, when a former bandmate told him in spring 2021 the Eagles tribute
band, Out of Eden was looking for a guitarist, he went for it — and is glad he did!
John Szymkowski
Drummer, Vocals
John being the youngest of six siblings was introduced to many forms of music at a very young age and had an instant attraction to the drums.
At age 16, John saved enough money and unbeknownst to his parents bought his first drum set for $150. John’s parents eventually embraced his love for drums, however frequently draping towels over the skins to dampen the sound level.
At age 17John joined his first garage band and after hearing Peaceful Easy Feeling and Witchy Woman by the Eagles on the radio John was hooked on The Eagles vocals and took a stab at trying to sing and drum with Already Gone being one of his first songs to sing and rum on.
John continued to practice singing and drumming and wound up doing both in every band he has been in over the last 40 years.
In 2023, John joined Out of Eden. Per John, “being asked to join Out of Eden is a dream come true! I am honored to have the pleasure of playing the drums, singing and harmonizing with the group on songs I have loved since I was a kid”.
From the New Kid in town, I am ready to Take it To the Limit with Out of Eden, Eagles Tribute Band.
